Xiaomi 'Markw' Device Shows Up In Geekbench: How Did The Mysterious Device Do?

Xiaomi has a mysterious smartphone in the pipeline dubbed "markw" that has popped up on a benchmark listing.

The yet-to-be-released Xiaomi "markw" device surfaced on Geekbench's database, and judging by the specs, it will be a midrange handset.

The upcoming Xiaomi smartphone was spotted by Rolandt Quandt, who shared the listing on Twitter.

The Geekbench listing reveals that the upcoming Xiaomi smartphone will house an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, which is clocked at 2.02 GHz. It is also expected to boast 3 GB of RAM.

These specifications lay to rest any assumptions that the newly leaked mysterious "markw" device could be the rumored 4.3-inch Xiaomi Mini, as this model is said to house a Snapdragon 820 and not Snapdragon 625 processor, though it will be powered by the same 3 GB of RAM.

While the chipset does not give much away about the alleged Xiaomi smartphone, it suggests that the handset will likely sport a 1080p display as the Snapdragon 625 processor can support a maximum of 1,900 x 1,200 display resolutions at 60 frames per second. It also offers support for 4K video recording.

How Did The Xiaomi 'Markw' Fare?

The Geekbench listing for the "markw" smartphone reveals that it scored a respectable 923 in the single-core test. If you're wondering what the device's multi-core score was, it rocketed to an impressive 4,537. This score is reflective of the fact that despite the processor core on the Snapdragon 625 being half as powerful as that on the Snapdragon 820, it performed considerably well.

The mystery device also houses the Adreno 510 GPU, which will potentially make the "markw" it at par with Xiaomi's flagships when it comes to gaming capabilities.

The Geekbench listing also shares that the upcoming smartphone's memory performance averaged 3 GB per second in the tests. This suggests that it will boast a quick response time when one jumps from one app to another or is multitasking.

The Xiaomi "markw" will reportedly come pre-loaded with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and not Android N, which hints at the device launching this year. A possibility exists that Xiaomi's "markw" handset could be an addition to the company's Redmi Note lineup.

No detail has surfaced regarding the price point of the new smartphone, but it should be affordable given the midrange specs.
