As the impending release of the much-awaited Samsung phablet — the Galaxy Note 7 — draws nearer, leaks and rumors pertaining to the device are gathering momentum. While features and renders of the Galaxy Note 7 have leaked frequently, a leaked video gives us a peek into the beta version of the TouchWiz UI for the handset, which is dubbed Grace.
Traditionally, Samsung makes minute changes to the UI for its Galaxy Note lineup of devices each year. These UI tweaks are then adopted by the Galaxy S series of smartphones in ensuing updates.
However, the latest leak - which comes courtesy of HDblog (an Italian publication) — reveals that the Galaxy Note 7 is set to benefit from considerable UI changes. A video shared by HDblog offers a glimpse into the alleged Grace UI for the Galaxy Note 7.
Intrigued as to what Samsung has in store for its Galaxy Note 7 with the new TouchWiz UI?
"What we can tell you is that the new design is very simple, straightforward, clean and less distracting. There are interesting new elements, an SMS management more complete and perhaps also able to integrate a kind of iMessage Apple style. Some parts are still in force but close integration of the "Force Touch" by Swype is interesting and will be curious to understand how it will be used (translated)," shares the publication.
The accompanying video is in Italian as well and shows off the Grace UI at great length. The video shows the core applications from Samsung and how these have evolved when compared with the present TouchWiz UI.
The video also shares how the widgets can be put on the screen, how you can select a new wallpaper or even choose from the gamut of available themes.
Those who own the Galaxy S7 will be only too familiar with how Samsung has transited to deploying lighter hues in favor of the previous green on blue. One look at the alleged Grace UI for the Galaxy Note 7 and you will immediately notice that it has a sleeker black-and-white look, as well as blue accents all over.
The folders in the upcoming UI also seem to have gotten a makeover and benefit from a full screen interface, as well as the background blurring when they are opened. The app drawer is also there but possibly the aspects that get a major facelift are the settings and notifications interfaces. The settings interface looks a lot denser and is a single list sans the separators on the top.
The toggles too are redesigned in the notification panel and have received "drop down" buttons. These open a separate quick settings UI which is akin to the list one sees on stock Android for Bluetooth on Wi-Fi.
