Pebble has come up with special editions for its Pebble Time Round. The smartwatch will now be available in polished Silver or Gold finishes via the company's Kickstarter campaign for its 2016 product lineup.
Pebble made the announcement on its blog, saying that the two new finishes came as a response to feedback from fans of the Pebble Time Round, who were "eager to see something cool" for the wearable during the company's campaign.
The Time Round was launched last November and is the thinnest, lightest and most stylish addition to the company's Pebble watch family.
"The round, color e-paper display and marine-grade stainless steel chassis take center stage, balanced by luxe accents befitting this stylish timepiece. Smoked numbering adds subtle gloss to the jet black decorative bezel. The ebony, genuine leather band sports matching clasps and quick-release pins so you can easily swap in any 20mm band your ensemble calls for," says Pebble.
Customers who want to buy the Pebble Time Round Kickstarter Edition finishes in polished Gold or Silver have the option to pledge $199 and get the delivery in September this year. Kickstarter customers also get a special laser engraving on their wearable. However, the quantity on the $199 pledge offer is limited to 3,000 units.
The Time Round is made of marine grade stainless steel. The always-on display of the smartwatch is easily readable indoors as well as outdoors. The battery of the Pebble smartwatch offers up to two days of use. The Kickstarter page of the Time Round also suggests that customers can get up to one day of power with just 15 minutes of charge.
The Time Round has a built-in sleeping and activity tracker. The smartwatch is 7.5 millimeters (0.29 inches) thin, giving a premium feel without the bulk. It is also IPX7-certified, which means that it is protected from immersion in water with a depth of up to 1 meter (3 feet) for up to 30 minutes. The certification will attract customers who use their smartwatches outdoors and are worried about occasional and rain damage.
The wearable includes Pebble Health and a mic that can be used for voice features. Customers also have access to thousands of custom apps as well as watch faces to suit personal preferences. The Time Round is also compatible with Pebble Core and the company claims it also supports Pebble 4.0, the next operating system from Pebble.
Pebble's Kickstarter project aims to raise $1 million in funds. However, the popularity of the Time Round and other wearables on offer has made backers pledge more than $11 million with about two weeks still to go in the campaign. It remains to be seen if Pebble's new Time Round Special Editions are able to please customers or not.
The Pebble Time Round is compatible with iOS and Android operating systems.
