'Batman v Superman' Gets 8-Bit Treatment From BitCine

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice had a good run at the box office but critics didn't have a lot of love to give to the first movie that had the Caped Crusader, the Man of Steel and Wonder Woman fighting alongside each other. Maybe it would've fared better as a video game?

BitCine took on Batman v Superman and made it over as an 8-bit video game, splitting the movie into several stages highlighting its biggest moments. There aren't cut scenes to make way for dialogue but the movie's infamous lines are included, tagging which parts of the film made it to the nearly-4-minute video.

Overall, it's a simplistic take on the movie but it does good work of highlighting Batman v Superman's crucial moments. It is also a good throwback to ‘80s-style video games but BitCine's work does little to save the movie from itself.

On the upside, if you haven't seen Batman v Superman, the 8-bit video may be a good way to check out the main events of the movie without spending time and money to actually see it. If you're looking for a reason to, there is one: Wonder Woman.

Is Batman v Superman so lost that not even turning it into a cute video game can turn it around?

Maybe not.

The movie's Ultimate Edition is due to come out this summer and it contains additional footage that could have made all the difference for the theatrical release. However, do keep in mind that the Batman v Superman released in theaters was rated PG-13 while the Ultimate Edition was given an R-rating.

Fans can expect 30 more minutes of footage in the movie's Ultimate Edition, bringing run-time to 182 minutes. Based on the trailer for the extended version, more scenes will be shown dealing with the aftermath of Superman's actions, Clark Kent poking around to identify Batman, Bruce Wayne brooding (yet again) over the death of his parents, those featuring Jena Malone, whose character was completely cut out from Batman v Superman's theatrical release, and Lex Luthor communing with an alien entity, which might reveal a thing or two about his motivations in the movie.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition will be released digitally on June 28 while the Blu-ray release is set for July 19.
