Microsoft recently released the iOS version of Sprightly, an app that lets users get creative with digital designs on their mobile devices.
The company takes a leaf out of rival apps, such as Adobe Spark Post and Canva, which let users swiftly craft design content such as price lists, catalogs, fliers, coupons and e-cards. As the Sprightly user finishes the design, it can be shared on social media in an instant.
Sprightly first came out on Android, but with the iOS variant, the company touts that an expanded library of templates will be available, featuring extra styles and colors for aspiring designers.
The modus operandi of the app is pretty straightforward. Users just have to take a photo or upload one from their gallery, choose a template suitable to their needs from the catalog and start tweaking the design. As users complete the image, it can be posted on social media, emailed or sent out for printing in PDF form.
Those familiar with competing apps such as Adobe Spark and Canva will notice that Sprightly targets a narrower audience.
Canva and Adobe work great for social media managers who rely on quick graphics creation for all sorts of social media ecosystems.
Sprightly aims to conquer the hearts of independent small to medium businesses that need content created on the fly and for which mobile communication between team members is essential. The good news concerning Sprightly is that it can be downloaded for no charge from Google Play and the App Store.
It should be noted that the app came from Microsoft's internal incubator and R & D outfit named Microsoft Garage.
From time to time, the company rolls out pilot apps to test out how they fare in the market, and Sprightly is no exception. Other notable mentions on the list are the Word Flow keyboard and News Pro. Plumbago is especially interesting, as the app developed by Microsoft Garage strongly resembles the company's existing OneNote.
In the blog post that unveils Sprightly for iOS, Microsoft uses a testimonial to showcase the app's potential. The testimonial features Sanjana Shah, a manufacturer of designer ceiling fans from Hyderabad, India.
She explains that previously, updates to images and catalogs would take as much as 30 days.
"With Sprightly, I'm able to click immediate pictures of all the fans here on display, make a price list, make a catalog of the same and send it across to clients," Shah says.
