The more time that passes, the less likely it seems that a Gambit movie might actually happen.
Although the film was a go this time last year, with Channing Tatum set to star as the superhero, the actor could have another project set in another comic book universe in the works instead.
Rumors began recently that the Gambit film was in trouble: the movie no longer has a release date and Tatum's schedule is so busy now that he doesn't seem to even have time to devote to it.
Now, though, rumors suggest that Tatum is giving up the Marvel world of Gambit and joining the DC Films universe. Batman-News recently noted that director Rick Famuyiwa suddenly started following many DC-related Twitter accounts. Soon after that, DC confirmed that he would direct The Flash movie.
One of those people he added on Twitter at that time was Tatum, suggesting that the two could soon find themselves working together.
With rumors reporting that Tatum is close to walking out on Gambit because of all its behind-the-scenes problems, could he well be on his way to become a part of DC's Justice League? At this point, this is only speculation, but Famuyiwa's sudden addition of Tatum to those he follows on Twitter is curious.
This doesn't mean that Tatum will become a superhero in the DC universe: he could take on a role as a villain or other supporting character in The Flash, perhaps. But it does put another nail in the coffin of the Gambit movie if these new rumors prove true.
