The story revolves around Jake Epping, a high school English teacher who has to travel back in time with the mission to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. On that fateful date, Nov. 22, 1963, Kennedy endured 3 gun shots in Dallas which ended his life. The novel version is now a best-seller and has received a number of positive reviews.

"J.J. Abrams and Stephen King are two of the most celebrated storytellers of our time, and we are excited to be working with them and Warner Bros. Television to bring this unique take on one of the most seminal historic events of the twentieth century to Hulu. 11/22/63 already resonated with audiences as a best-selling novel, and we are looking forward to bringing the riveting story to the screen," said Craig Erwich, Hulu's SVP and head of content.

The "11/22/63" miniseries project for Hulu is a limited viewing series though it's highly possible that future subsequent seasons will be produced which shall be based on the story. The success of "11/22/63" will serve as Hulu's critical component in its ability to win subscribers with its high-profile originals and eventually aligns the service with the likes of Amazon and Netflix.

Stephen King has more than 50 books published in his name which he had accomplished within four decades of his career. His works have been adapted for TV and movies more than 50 times. Currently, he works as an executive producer of "Under the Dome" which is a novel of the same name and placed under the CBS series.

"If I ever wrote a book that cries out for long-form, event TV programming, 11/22/63 is it. I'm excited that it's going to happen, and am looking forward to working with J.J. Abrams and the whole Bad Robot team," said Stephen King.

Producer and filmmaker J.J. Abrams is currently working on three projects namely 'Star Wars: Episode VII' of Disney, 'Mission: Impossible,' and 'Star Trek.'

"I've been a fan of Stephen King since I was in junior high school. The chance to work with him at all, let alone on a story so compelling, emotional and imaginative, is a dream," said Abrams.
