HTC Smartwatch Unveiling Gets Delayed Again, Pushed Back Until Fall

Once again, the launch of the much-rumored HTC smartwatch is postponed. This time around, it is believed that it will, at long last, see the light of day this coming fall.

The rumor comes from well-renowned Twitter leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks). Blass has a pretty good track record when it comes to pushing out details of various devices ahead of their official introduction.

Blass says in his latest tweet regarding the alleged HTC smartwatch:

Earlier in May, Blass also tipped that the smart timepiece will debut next month, specifically in the week of June 6. Prior to that, in February, Tech Times reported that HTC's first smartwatch was set to be unwrapped in April.

"Small consolation, HTC fans: you'll be able to pick up the watch before the end of April," Blass tweeted at the time.

Obviously, the expected introduction of the device did not push through.

It was also rumored in December 2015 that the smartwatch would arrive in February, particularly during this year's Mobile World Congress. Again, that one did not happen.

Expected Features

With regard to what features and specs HTC will put under the device's hood, details are still light at the moment. Earlier rumors, though, claim that this will run Android Wear and will feature a circular form factor, rocking a 360 x 360 screen.

As for its price, we have not found any information about it yet.

This upcoming device from HTC is said to bear the moniker "Halfbeak" — yes, like the fish.

It is undeniable that wearable devices are increasingly gaining traction, explaining why more firms are entering into the market with unique designs for their smartwatches and other wearable gadgets. Thus, it is not surprising that HTC may also be baking its own device.

In any case, it would be interesting to see how this timepiece will look like the moment the company takes the veil off it.

We'll be sure to keep you in the loop with regard to any news about the purported HTC smartwatch. For now, let us file this story under the rumor category.
