Oculus VR has announced the next iteration of its Oculus Rift headset, getting closer and closer to a consumer version.
The third version of the headset, dubbed "Crescent Bay," has a number of upgraded specs, including the addition of headphones, which can be moved for the user to use their own headphones if they want.
With the headset getting closer and closer to a consumer version, there are a number of games that many would like to see on the headset. Here are five such games.
1. Star Wars Battlefront 3
Electronic Arts recently confirmed the existence of Star Wars Battlefront 3 and many would love to be able to explore the Star Wars universe in first person mode, via the Oculus Rift.
While Battlefront 3 is not to be released until around the time of the next Star Wars movie, or the end of 2015, Oculus also probably will not release a consumer version of the Oculus Rift for a while. Perhaps the two dates could coincide in some way?
2. Mirror's Edge
Mirror's Edge garnered quite a following after it was first released and has only gained popularity since. The already realistic first-person style of the game would lend well to a virtual reality headset and could be even more immersive than it already is.
3. Madden NFL
Imagine being able to suit up in full football gear and head out on the field as your favorite player. A virtual reality football game could do exactly that, and what better football game series than Madden.
In reality, any sports game could offer this experience, but Madden would be particularly popular in the American market.
4. Need For Speed
What could be better from a racing game than being able to turn your head and see out the rear window to exactly how far ahead of your competitors you are. Need For Speed on the Oculus Rift could provide just that and be the most immersive racing game ever.
5. Assassin's Creed
With Assassin's Creed: Unity being one of the most hotly anticipated games of the year, how could it not make the list? An Assassin's Creed game on Oculus Rift would likely be one of the most popular games on the platform, and for good reason.
Conclusions
There is of course any number of other games that could have made this list. The platform is certainly an exciting one, but only time will tell which games end up being released to it.
