LG G5 Friends Accessories Now On Sale In The US: Here's How Much They Cost And What They Do

The LG G5, the latest flagship smartphone from the South Korean manufacturer, is an undeniably powerful device. The 5.3-inch smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and an Adreno 530 GPU with 4 GB of RAM.

Another major draw for the LG G5 is its modular capabilities, with the accessories known as the G5 Friends capable of being attached to the smartphone to provide additional functionality.

LG has now confirmed that the G5 Friends are available for purchase in the United States in participating retail stores, carrier outlets and on the online LG store.

The G5 Friends covered by the expansion of availability are the LG CAM Plus, the LG 360 CAM, the LG 360 VR and the LG TONE Platinum.

"It is the future of smartphone technology, but available today," said LG Electronics Mobile USA president Morris Lee, referring to the G5 Friends.

LG CAM Plus

The LG CAM Plus, sold for $69.99, is a camera module which provides users with a comfortable grip and the controls found on standard cameras. The LG CAM Plus has physical buttons for its power, shutter, zoom and record functions, along with an LED indicator for its battery. Users will be able to take advantage of the LG G5's exposure lock and auto focus systems, and will enjoy longer shooting time due to the LG CAM Plus also having its own battery embedded inside.

LG 360 CAM

The LG 360 CAM, sold for $199.99, allows users to capture 360-degree content of their own. The module packs a pair of 13 MP 200-degree wide angle cameras, along with a 1,200 mAh battery, to capture 2K video with 5.1 surround channel audio.

LG 360 VR

The LG 360 VR, sold for $199.99, is a virtual reality goggle that is connected to the LG G5 through a cable. Users can then watch 360-degree content through the device, which unlike other virtual reality systems, does not need to have the paired smartphone inserted in the headset.

LG TONE Platinum

The LG TONE Platinum sold for $199.99, is said to be the most premium among the headsets released under the LG TONE series to date. The headset is capable of supporting 24-bit audio with a platinum grade provided by Harman Kardon and a design that minimizes distortion. The LG TONE Platinum is also the first Bluetooth-enabled headset that comes with the aptX HDcodec for delivering improved bass, with dual microphones that come with noise canceling capabilities.

Missing from the list of G5 Friends available in the United States is the Hi-Fi Plus with B&O Play, as previously reported. The reason for the omission of the module's availability remains unclear, though it could have something to do with its supply.
