The Identity Of 'Batman v Superman's' Dead Robin Looks To Have Been Confirmed

When fans first glimpsed a Joker-grafittied Robin costume in the trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, many assumed it to be hinting at a major story line from the Batman comics.

That assumption looks to have been correct. Long speculated, it looks like it has now almost been 100 percent confirmed that the identity of the DC Cinematic Universe's deceased Robin is in fact Jason Todd.

The information comes from a now-private Facebook video in which Warner Bros. toured DC Universe: The Exhibit, where various props from Batman v Superman, including the Robin suit seen in the film, were on display.

"This was one of the big things from Batman v Superman, right across this way. The Jason Todd Robin suit," says the tour guide in the video (via IGN). "Spray-painted on the front 'Ha ha. The joke's on you Batman.' Those of you that know the story line, know what happened to this Robin."

Not only does the tour guide identify the Robin suit as belonging to Jason Todd, but he also implies that comic readers will "know what happened to this Robin."

What happens, of course, is that Joker tortures and eventually kills Todd after taking him prisoner. Batman is unable to save him in time, and views Todd's death as one of his greatest failures. He keeps Todd's costume in the Batcave as a constant reminder.

It's a dark, depressing story line, so it naturally falls right into director Zack Snyder's wheelhouse. Previously we learned that Snyder's version of Robin wielded a deadly halberd as a weapon as well. While the tour guide in the video could simply be assuming much of the information presented in the video about the deceased Robin, it seems unlikely that the tour guide's interpretation of the DC cinematic universe exhibit would be misinformed about the items on display.

It remains to be seen if we will see a new Robin on screen at some point, or even a film focusing on Jason Todd's death. Affleck's Batman is set to face off against Jared Leto's Joker in Suicide Squad, so perhaps we will learn more about Todd's fate (and his possible future as hero Red Hood) then.
