Two New 'Attack On Titan' Game Trailers Detail The Techniques You'll Need To Survive

Koei Tecmo's upcoming Attack on Titan game is coming later this summer, and so far, it looks to be incredibly faithful to the popular anime and manga series upon which it's based. The two new trailers detailing the game's battle system make that fact even more obvious, as they show players will not only need proper positioning but also teamwork in order to survive the titan onslaught.

In the first trailer, Koei Tecmo demonstrates how players will need to use 3D maneuvering gear effectively to emerge victorious. Head-on attacks against the titans are nearly useless, so players will need to weaken them by slicing off limbs and then circling around the back to attack the nape of the neck. Using the 3D maneuvering gear requires you to periodically replenish your gas reserves in order to fuel your gear. Same goes for your blades. Attacking titans will dull your swords, so you'll need to equip new blades frequently in order to stay in peak titan-killing condition.

The second battle system trailer explores how players can use teammates to overcome the odds. Players can recruit up to four AI partners to join their squad. Those partners can then be issued commands to perform pincer attacks and more. Performing secondary missions with the same squadmates will increase their loyalty, increasing their effectiveness on the battlefield as well. You can check out both trailers below.

All in all, the Attack on Titan game looks to be shaping up nicely. Considering the second season of the anime doesn't appear to be coming anytime soon, this might be the best way for fans to get their titan-slaying fix until the new season does finally arrive sometime next year.

Preordering the game from GameStop, Best Buy or Amazon will net gamers the "cleaner" costume for Levi and Eren, as well as a festival costume for Mikasa. Those who preorder the game digitally through the PlayStation Network will receive Attack on Titan avatars to use online. Attack on Titan arrives on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PS Vita on Aug. 30.
