Sometimes politics can get real interesting real fast, as is the case when the mayor of a South Korean town decided to move construction of a baseball stadium to a different nearby town.
Changwon mayor Ahn Sang-soo announced the move of the stadium from Jinhae, South Korea to the nearby Masan. That didn't sit too well with Jinhae councilman Kim Sung-il. You can see his response below.
The Jinhae councilman actually throws two eggs. Two! That's how mad he was. One hits the mayor right in the shoulder, while the other sails overhead and explodes onto the wall behind. It looks like the man beside Sang-soo attempted to intercept the egg, but, man, that came out of nowhere. Where did the councilman get those egg? Did he bring them with him to the council meeting, expecting the bad news? It looks like this was a premeditated attack all along.
After throwing the eggs, everybody in the room just kind of stands around, as if nothing out of the ordinary happened. Sung-il just walks off and nobody tries to stop him. We're not exactly sure what Sung-il's goal here was, besides being mad. Maybe he thought pelting the mayor with eggs will make him think twice before moving another stadium to a neighboring town? Oh well.
It hasn't been a good week for politicians. A Ukrainian politician, upon exiting parliament, was picked up by an angry mob of protesters, tossed into a dumpster and held there. Then he got a tire thrown on top of him, followed by a man pouring out his canned beverage on the cowering politician. The egging seems much less embarrassing.
