2017 Hyundai Elantra Eco To Hit Showrooms With $20,650 Starting Price

Hyundai Motor America announced on May 5 that its all-new 2017 Hyundai Elantra Eco, deemed "the most fuel efficient Elantra," is going to hit showrooms soon. It carries a $20,650 starting price.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that this brand-new car delivers 32 mpg in city, 40 mpg in highway and 35 mpg in combined highway and city driving. Annual fuel cost for this vehicle is roughly about $900.

As a point of comparison, 2016 Toyota Corolla LE Eco, 2016 Chevrolet Cruze and 2016 Honda Civic (both the naturally aspirated and turbo engines) are also rated 35 mpg in combined city and highway driving. These cars come with automatic transmissions.

In terms of its features, the Elantra Eco touts a hexagonal grille and LED daytime running lights. Inside, the vehicle rocks a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Other standard functionalities include heated front seats, steering wheel (fitted with cruise, audio along with Bluetooth controls), leather wrapped shift knob, proximity key with push-button start and dual automatic temperature control.

That's not all Hyundai packed into the Elantra Eco. This car is also equipped with a Blind Spot Detection feature with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-traffic Alert. On top of that, the vehicle features a sliding armrest, illuminated vanity mirrors and sunvisor extensions.

At any rate, this combo of features the car has in store appears very competitive.

With regard to its specs under the hood, the car features a 1.4-liter Kappa engine that can manage to push out 156 lb.-ft. torque and 128 horsepower.

The only available transmission is the seven-speed dual clutch automatic.

The starting price for the Elantra Eco excludes the $835 freight charge, says the company in a press release, as posted by Autoblog.
