Medivh And Chromie Of 'Warcraft' Are Joining 'Heroes Of The Storm'

Fans will soon be able to play as two new heroes in Blizzard's free-to-play MOBA Heroes of the Storm.

In the coming months, the human wizard Medivh and the dragon disguised-as-a-gnome Chromie will be joining the game's ever-expanding roster of Blizzard characters, with these two latest additions each hailing from the Warcraft universe.

Chromie is the human form of the bronze dragon Chronomu, a dragon who seeks to maintain (and occasionally fix) Azeroth's past timelines. It looks like Chromie won't transform into a dragon for her Heroes of the Storm appearance, though she does appear to have a few abilities that will feature her alter-ego. She appears to be a caster assassin. Chromie will arrive in the Nexus on May 17.

Medivh is one of the most powerful mages in all of Warcraft lore. In earlier games, a possessed Medivh is responsible for aiding the warlock Gul'dan in opening the Dark Portal between Draenor and Azeroth, allowing for the invasion of the orcs and eventually, the demons known as the Burning Legion. After his death, Medivh returns to Azeroth as a mysterious protector, helping to unite the races in time to defeat the Burning Legion at the Battle of Mount Hyjal. Medivh will arrive in what appears to be a support role on June 14.

Both heroes will be arriving around the same time as Warcraft film, which is in theaters June 10.

Blizzard has also teased new skins and mounts set to arrive in the coming weeks. Nova will be gettinga skin that makes her look like the sniper Widowmaker from Overwatch, while Tyrande will be receiving a Hawkeye-inspired superhero costume.

Rewards for the hero league preseason will be arriving in the coming weeks ahead of some major changes to the game's ranked system. Those who have reached a certain level in the preseason will be eligible to receive exclusive profile portraits and even some free mounts. You can read more about the upcoming changes here.
