'Flight Of The Navigator' Child Actor Arrested For Bank Robbery

Another child actor is in legal trouble. In 1986 he stole a spaceship and went on an adventure of a lifetime. But real life is no movie and Deleriyes Joe Cramer, an actor who starred in the 80's sci-fi movie Flight of the Navigator, has reportedly been charged with bank robbery in Canada.

Now 42, the former child actor was arrested in connection to a bank robbery on April 28 when the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said a man dressed in a disguise demanded an undisclosed amount of money from the a bank in Sechelt, British Columbia and escaped on foot.

According to the police report, a man wearing a scraggly shoulder-length wig, a bandana, sunglasses, and a dark colored jacket with a reddish design on the back robbed the bank.

Constable Harrison Mohr of Sunshine Coast RCMP said that even with the disguise, officers who had interacted with Cramer, also known in the community north-west of Vancouver as Joey Cramer, on an unrelated matter were able to recognize him.

When Cramer was approached by the police, he attempted to drive away.

He has been charged with four offenses: robbery, disguise with intent to commit an indictable offense, failing to stop for a peace officer, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

As a child in Hollywood, Cramer was last seen on the big screen in the 1987 film Stone Fox.

He also starred with Tom Selleck in Runaway, and with Darryl Hannah in The Clan of Cave Bear.

But Cramer is most remembered for his role as David Freeman in Disney's Flight of the Navigator, for which he was nominated for a Young Artist Award by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films in 1987.

Cramer currently lives in Gibsons and is scheduled to appear in court on May 10 at the North Vancouver Provincial Court.

The Sunshine Coast Police are also requesting the public to come forward with any information they may have on a possible accomplice who purchased the disguise used during the robbery.
