Anticipation for the newest Pokemon games, entitled Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, has been growing quickly. Nintendo has been releasing a steady stream of information about the game over the past few months, but no one outside the developers has been able to play the game.
That won't be the case for very long, though. Nintendo announced that a Special Demo Version of Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will be released on the Nintendo eShop in the near future.
"Start your next Hoenn region adventure early with a special demo version of Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire. This demo features gameplay that you won't experience anywhere else."
Nintendo hasn't exactly been specific about a release date, but the company has detailed a number of features that will be included in the demo. The inclusion of new Mega-Evolving Pokemon is to be expected, but what's surprising is that the demo will cross over with the full retail version of the game.
According to Nintendo, both items and captured Pokemon will transfer to the release version of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. It's an interesting premise, as demo versions are typically completely separate entities from their retail counterparts. Plus, the idea of having new and powerful Pokemon ready to go at the very start of the game, while potentially unbalanced, is certainly intriguing.
Whether or not there will be any restrictions on what can and cannot be transferred has yet to be detailed, but Nintendo did confirm that the demo can be played an unlimited number of times. This is yet another departure from the norm, as most 3DS demos are locked out after a certain number of playthroughs. Nintendo has even hinted at special rewards for players that play through the demo daily.
In addition to the demo, Nintendo also revealed several new Mega Evolutions as well. Mega-Camerupt, Mega-Sharpedo and Mega-Gallade will all debut in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Whether or not these three will make an appearance in the Special Demo Version is still unclear, but considering that Nintendo revealed both the demo and the new Mega Evolutions at the same time, it would make sense that at least one of them would make an appearance.
The Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire demo doesn't have a solid release date quite yet, but the full retail version of the game is due later this year on Nov. 7, so the Special Demo version can't be too far away.
