Updated Apple Music For Android Brings New Features, Including Music Videos

Apple Music for Android now allows music videos playback on the app, something that has been notably missing so far.

The recent update also brings more sharing options with the Family Membership feature, which allows up to six members in the same household to enjoy Apple Music together.

Apple launched its Apple Music app for Android back in November. The app came equipped with the familiar features found on its iOS counterpart, as well as some that are not available in iOS.

Prior to the update, however, iOS users enjoyed one feature that Android lacked: music videos playback. The latest update to the Android app now brings it on par with the iOS version.

"You can now enjoy thousands of music videos on Apple Music - view popular ones featured in New or search for the music videos from your favorite artists," states the app's description in Google Play.

Along with the music videos, the recent update also allows Android users to either subscribe or upgrade a subscription to a Family Membership option. With this new subscription feature, members in the same household can enjoy Apple Music together. For only $15 a month, up to six family members can share a single subscription or an equivalent of $2.5 a month for each member in a family of six.

"You can now also sign-up or upgrade to a Family Membership, which allows up to six family members to enjoy Apple Music together," adds the Apple Music description.

Now that Android users can start enjoying music videos on their devices, it seems like Android managed to caught up with its iOS counterpart as far as Apple Music is concerned. It should be noted, however, that Android users have been able to take advantage of some features that are not available on iOS devices.

In an update that launched earlier this year, Android devices gained the added ability to play music that is stored on SD cards. Another update featured a new homescreen widget that is available exclusively on Android.

Apple Music still offers a free trial of up to 3 months to first time users. It now has more than 30 million songs that are ready for playback on its catalog.

Other highlights include handpicked recommendations by music experts; a library of the latest and greatest new music that are editor-curated; music, interviews, and exclusive radio shows on Beats 1 or play radio stations; connectivity with one's favorite artists through photos, videos and music; Apple Music playlist creation along with one's own mixes; and a single location to find all purchases made in iTunes and saved music from Apple Music.

Apple Music for Android is now available for download in Google Play.
