Call of Duty rumors have been fast and frequent over the past few weeks, but one rumor now looks to be all but confirmed.
An image of a preorder card reportedly from Target for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare appeared online yesterday, and with it came an extra bonus. The card stated that those who purchase the "Legacy Edition" of the upcoming game would also receive a digital copy of Modern Warfare Remastered.
The original Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare released way back in 2007. It was the game that turned Call of Duty into the juggernaut it is today, and is still regarded by many as the best entry in the franchise.
News that a remastered version would be shipping alongside the next game in the series certainly excited more than a few fans, and in an age of gaming where it seems like nearly every title worth its salt from the last generation of consoles has received a remastering, it makes perfect sense. It's easy money for Activision, and could help improve the franchise's slumping sales in recent years.
Two recent tweets seemingly confirm that a Modern Warfare Remastered is indeed on the way. The first tweet comes from the official Call of Duty Twitter account in a response to a tweet from two years ago.
Next came confirmation from a well-known Call of Duty YouTuber who goes by the name Syndicate.
It looks like all there is left for Activision and Infinity Ward to do is officially announce the game. That looks like it could happen soon. Leaked marketing materials seem to imply that the reveal of the next entry in the Call of Duty franchise (and presumably Modern Warfare Remastered) will be coming sometime before May 3. Expect more news and details (like prices and release dates) for Infinite Warfare and Modern Warfare Remastered very, very soon.
