Twitter app update brings search filters and more

Twitter has updated its iOS and Android apps, bringing new search filters, the option to view all tweets, and more.

Soon, users will have the option to filter searches for particular topics like videos or images.

"We're updating our iOS and Android apps to make it easier to discover what's happening on Twitter. New filters in search help you quickly find exactly the Tweets and people you're looking for. And now you have the option to view all Tweets -- simply toggle between top Tweets and all Tweets at the top of your search results," said Esteban Kozak, Search & Relevance Product Manager via a blog post.

Users will be able too images using the photo search filter. To view what their friends are tweeting, users simply need to filter the results from those they follow. Users will even have the option to filter for videos "making it feel like you're a part of the action on Twitter."

Getting updates on trends and events, the hottest topics, will also be simpler thanks to the trending timeline in the Discover tab.

"We're also making it easier to find out more about trends and events. A new trending timeline in Discover shows you trends along with associated Tweets, and you can also see trending TV shows and nearby events," notes Kozak.

Apart from these feature, the update will allow users to see trending TV and brings improved login verification, as it will let users take a screenshot of the verification backup code when they "enroll or generate a new one."

The update also brings minor refinements like new icons, screen transitions, as well as an in-app pop-up when a post is either starred or retweeted.

Users can download the update from Google Play or the App Store.
