Audi RS TT Is Engineered For Performance: Five-Cylinder Engine Delivers 400 HP, 354 Lb-Ft Of Torque

Ahead of the Beijing Auto Show, Audi has unveiled the 2017 Audi TT RS, which comes in both coupe and roadster form.

The vehicle packs a five-cylinder engine capable of 400 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque, between 1,700 and 5,850 rpm. This represents an improvement from the previous model, which was only capable of delivering 360 horsepower.

In addition, the new Audi TT RS features a quarto all-wheel drive system, and can go from zero to 62 miles per hour in as fast as 3.7 seconds. Top speed is listed at 174.0 miles per hour.

Purists, however, might not like the fact that Audi has not mentioned manual transmission coming to the vehicle. Audi has revealed that the 2017 Audi TT RS will have a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic gearbox, but it did not mention a manual gearbox option. This is not a huge surprise though, as Audi has been moving away from offering a manual transmission option in its vehicles.

For its design elements, it features oversized air intakes at the front and OLED tail lights, oval tailpipes and a fixed rear wing at the back. Inside the vehicle are two low-slung bucket seat with the standard TT components such as the Audi Connect system on the 12.3-inch virtual cockpit display, along with inductive charging for smartphones.

The availability and pricing for the United States has not yet been revealed, but Mark Dahncke, a spokesman for Audi of America, said that the vehicle will be arriving in showrooms in the country by next year. The 2017 Audi TT RS is set to be launched overseas in the fall, with the starting price of the coupe model at €66,400 (about $74,800) and the roadster version at €69,200 (about $77,950).

Both the coupe and the roadster version of the 2017 Audi TT RS are making their world debut at the Beijing Motor Show, which started on April 25 and will last until May 4.
