If you were born in the 1980s and were a fan of watching Nickelodeon after school, chances are you watched at least one show that was hosted by the legendary Marc Summers.
While he has currently been keeping busy with the Food Network hosting "Unwrapped" and working as an executive producer for the show "Restaurant: Impossible," he got his start sending kids into the Pie Pod on "What Would You Do" and their parents on obstacle courses on "Double Dare."
Well Nickelodeon fans, it appears that Summers wants to bring "Double Dare" back to TV after a recent conversation on HuffPost Live.
Bringing "Double Dare" back makes perfect sense, too. The show was voted as #29 in TV Guide's "50 Greatest Shows of All Time" and would be a perfect live-action show for Nickelodeon to contrast against their animation-heavy playlist.
The original "Double Dare" was cancelled in 1993 after a 7-year run, but its unique use of physical challenges that saw its guests being covered in slime, pie and other unknown substances, made for some pretty entertaining TV that inspired many other shows internationally.
"Here's the deal. I would love to do some form or fashion of it. Let's just say that right now ... the people who run the Nickelodeon network and I don't necessarily see eye to eye," said Summers. "I've been trying to make nice to those people, but they refuse to talk to me."
While Summers added that he may not be the demographic that Nickelodeon is looking for (particularly, an old guy), he would most certainly make for a great announcer or occasional guest so that the rest of us can reminiscence about our childhoods.
"I think they think I'm way too old to do it. I still have the energy and I think I could," Summers said. "So I'm putting a call out to the folks at Nick: return the phone calls, have a discussion."
Here's hoping that Nickelodeon returns those calls or gets sent to the Pie Pod.
