Even after the goodies of update 1.1 and hotfixes here and there, The Division is still not what it's cut out to be, with players encountering one too many bugs and glitches.
Straight off the bat, the first Incursion dubbed Falcon Lost has a huge exploit. Some users were able to take advantage of this and accomplish the mission without having to go through all 15 waves of enemies. As everyone can imagine, they came out of the whole process clad with endgame gears.
With that said, Ubisoft intends to penalize the players who abused the exploit as they work on a fix.
"We are working on fixing the exploit. Obviously it is against our Code of Conduct and the team is looking into what can be done in terms of punishment for those who have exploited," Community Manager Natchai Stappers says.
As for the punishment itself, it's still unclear whether it'll be a permanent or temporary ban for now.
The thing is that if Ubisoft doesn't strip away the ill-gotten gears, then there will be a big balance issue that'll linger for a long time, and legit players will have trouble coping with the exploiters. On the other hand, if it does suspend accounts forever, then it risks blocking out possibly about half of the player base.
If that weren't bad enough, the Incursion itself is not exactly the most thrilling mission from the get-go. Shooting down wave after wave of foes doesn't really tickle the fancy of players who anticipated a more tactical gameplay out of The Division. Well, no wonder everyone was thirsty for a workaround to such tedious mechanics. Long story short, it sometimes feels like it's a repetitive grindfest inside the game.
To keep the terrible news rolling, the game is plagued with a slew of various issues, including Xbox One gamers' characters disappearing and a broken matchmaking system at some point. To top them all off, the daily mission has stayed the same for a few days, but that could be fixed with the scheduled downtime.
To boil things down, The Division is riddled with exploits that elevate abusers to a level beyond well-behaved players and full of game-breaking glitches. With the current track record, it's safe to expect to encounter even more bugs in the foreseeable future.
The Division is in a dark, dark place, my friend.
