Hulu Introduces Watchlist, A New Way To Keep Track Of Your Favorite Movies And Shows

Hulu has announced a new feature called Watchlist, which allows users to organize their favorite movies and shows.

Hulu first introduced the opt-in beta of Watchlist in 2015 with the aim of consolidating three existing Hulu features: Queue, Favorites and Shows You Watch trays. These three features allowed users to keep track of their favorites but the company felt that it was not ideal to have three different sections.

Hulu says that it has taken the best of these existing features, which makes the video-watching experience more personalized and easier.

"Watchlist dynamically tailors the order of your content to match how you watch TV and suggests actions for you," says Ben Smith, the head of experience at Hulu.

Smith explains that when a user adds a specific show to their Watchlist then the feature will automatically alert the user when the newest episode is available.

"Watchlist will remember where you are in a show or movie - you're always just a click or a tap away from what you want to watch. Recently added episodes will be labeled in your Watchlist so that you can quickly see what's new to watch," says Hulu.

The new feature allows users to easily remove or add favorites manually by clicking the "+" button on iOS devices or on PCs. Users can also add videos to Watchlist using the "add to Watchlist" button on gaming consoles, Android devices, connected TVs and set-top boxes. Hulu will still organize the list as before established on the viewing habits of users.

The Hulu Watchlist is also organized by categories, which include Expiring Soon, TV, Videos and Movies. The Expiring Soon section alerts users when content is expiring in the next two weeks. The feature is helpful for users to decide and prioritize what to watch.

Hulu suggests that the new Watchlist will be rolled out to viewers in the new couple of weeks, which means that some users may have to wait longer than others.

Watchlist is currently available on:
