For those who might be expecting an Iron Man 4 movie in the coming years, keep that expectation on the down-low because nothing is set in stone just yet. Robert Downey Jr. has confirmed that there's no deal set for a new Iron Man film as Marvel is busy making plans to bring forth new characters to its cinematic universe.
When asked whether or not Marvel is working on a new Iron Man movie, Downey Jr. responded by saying that there's nothing in the works right now, though he did not completely rule out the possibility that something might happen in the future.
"There isn't one in the pipe," Downey said in an interview. "No, there's no plan for a fourth 'Iron Man.'"
Not surprising to us, after all, the last two Iron Man movies were inferior to the first one, especially the third. So since Disney bought Marvel, the quality in the Iron Man films have fallen, though the profits have risen regardless.
Variety also asked Downey Jr. if he would allow anyone else to take on the role as Tony Stark. His response was quite sarcastic, but it was clear that he has no intention at the moment to give up the armor to another actor. Then again, chances are Marvel wouldn't allow him to make that move, and fans would go crazy.
"I like that the idea is that it would be up to me, like I'm casting director for Marvel," he said.
To this day, Robert Downey Jr. is still the best thing to happen to Disney/Marvel. His portrayal of Tony Stark in all three Iron Man movies and The Avengers is nothing short of top class, so there is no doubt in our minds that Downey Jr. is indeed, Iron Man.
His next outing will come in the form of The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and he's also set for another Avengers movie that is scheduled for 2018. No doubt those films are bound to make the actor a ton of money, so he doesn't need to have his own solo film just yet, for everything is looking well.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is set for release on May 1, 2015.
