Remember that time Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice actors, Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, were doing an interview and they went on to the topic of the bad reviews their film received, which in turn gave birth to the Sad Ben Affleck meme?
The meme is still fairly recent but in case anyone has forgotten it, the amusing Sam Heughan, who plays James "Jamie" MacKenzie Fraser in Starz's Outlander, just brought it back with his own rendition during an interview for the television series he is in.
It was during the interview with Caitriona Balfe for People Magazine that Heughan suddenly asked the interviewer if they could recreate the Sad Ben Affleck meme and both Balfe and the reporter were on board for it.
"Can we do a Sad Affleck?" Heughan requests.
"He wants to do Sad Affleck," Balfe repeats as she pats Heughan's arm in support for her Outlander co-star.
The interviewer then accepts the request and proceeds to ask Balfe about what kind of music the actors listen to in order to get into character. Without missing a beat, Balfe answers with the first line of Simon and Garfunkel's hit song "The Sound of Silence."
Of course, they would not miss the opportunity to play "The Sound of Silence" in the background as Heughan channeled his inner sad Affleck and stares deeply into space, perhaps listening to Caitriona say "hello darkness, my old friend."
The exact moment in Affleck and Cavill's interview was then inserted in the video as either a point of comparison or just pure fun.
The point is that Sam Heughan did an excellent impression of Sad Affleck so, if and when Ben Affleck sees the interview, perhaps he would be amused by it and forget his sadness over the criticism and bad reviews for Batman v Superman. After all, he has his own solo Batman film to work on now.
