Motorola unveils new Moto X and Moto G: Bigger, better...and worth buying

Motorola has taken the wraps off its new phone offerings for 2014, the new Moto X and the new Moto G.

Both the Moto X and the Moto G enjoyed a lot of success when they were first released last year, but this year's versions take the devices to the next level. Both updates continue Motorola's tradition of offering technically great devices at low cost.

The new Moto X, which is Motorola's flagship device, offers a 5.2-inch HD display, along with a faster processor in the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801. The device also features a 13-megapixel camera that is able to capture 4K video.

The Moto G, which looks similar to the Moto X but is much cheaper, features a larger 5-inch display as well as two front-facing speakers for stereo audio. It also offer an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing one.

The Moto G has also kept a number of features from last year's version. The display, while larger, is still 720p, and the processor is still the same quad-core Snapdragon 400. Despite keeping the same processor, however, it seems that the device is able to run just as fast and keep up with most things that are thrown at it.

Ever since it was first released, the Moto G has become a worldwide hit and an extremely important part of Motorola's lineup. In fact, it is now the company's best-selling device.

"It's become a worldwide phenomenon," said Motorola President and Chief Operating Officer Rick Osterloh.

One of the reasons that the Moto G is as successful as it is, is the price of it. Coming it at only $180, this is one of the best devices for the price on the market.

The Moto X is also rather cheap. When it first came out, it cost $580 off-contract, and now it only costs $500. For a device with the specifications that it has, this is not bad at all.

Motorola made sure emphasize Moto Voice, the Motorola software that allows the user to input voice commands. While there are a number of additional features, one of the most wanted feature is the ability to rename the prompt to turn on voice commands, essentially allowing the user to use prompts such as "Jarvis" or "Hey, Moto." Previously, the only command that could be used was "Ok, Google."

Motorola also released its first smartwatch offering, the Moto 360. This is hailed as one of the most stylish smartwatches to date, and it sold out on Google Play and the Motorola website within hours of going on sale.

The Moto X and Moto G continue to be some of the best devices for the cost on the market. Motorola's flagship, the Moto X, offers a stylish look and a power to back it up, while the Moto G is a superpower for the budget-minded device shopper.
