Family, Friends And Fans Remember Leonard Nimoy In 'For The Love Of Spock' Trailer

"Live long and prosper."

Those are words that every Star Trek fan is familiar with, along with the hand gesture that accompanies the phrase. The phrase is now often remembered with a sense of loss, after the man who often said those words with such conviction on Star Trek, Leonard Nimoy, passed away last year.

Friends, family and fans still grieve over the loss of Nimoy, and although he is gone, he is not forgotten: his words as Spock continue to live on.

Even before his death, though, Nimoy was the subject of a documentary, For the Love of Spock, directed by his son Adam. Now, that documentary has a trailer, which shows just how the character of Spock, and Nimoy himself, affected the world in a way like none other.

The film will include many clips and quotes from others in the Star Trek universe, as well as from fans who found themselves moved by Nimoy as an actor and human being in general. Many Star Trek alums contributed to the movie, too, including William Shatner and George Takei, both of whom worked with Nimoy on the original series. Zachary Quinto, who portrays Spock in the latest series of Star Trek movies, narrates.

The documentary started as an idea between father and son.

"With the 50th anniversary of the original series coming up, and because we had worked so well on a previous documentary together, I approached my father about producing a documentary on the life of Mr. Spock," said Adam Nimoy about the project. "Spock had never been the subject of a documentary before, and I thought it would be interesting, and my father agreed, if we produced a documentary on the life and legacy of Mr. Spock."

The documentary will look at the career of Leonard Nimoy, but also include experiences of what it was like growing up with Spock as a father. It will also include perspectives on Nimoy from other family members, too.

For the Love of Spock will premiere at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival, starting on April 16, with a public release following sometime later this year.
