HTC 10 Gets New HTC Ice View Case To Replace The Familiar Dot View Case

The mighty HTC 10 is finally out of the bag, and it has a brand new case to go along with it: the Ice View Case, which replaces the HTC Dot View case.

Both the HTC One M8 and the One M9 had the iconic HTC Dot View case, which looks like a retro case with pixelated icons, clocks and notifications. That pixelated look is formed as the display shines through a matrix of small holes in the protective screen cover of the case.

Some loved the HTC Dot View, while others hated it for the same reason: its appearance. Either way, the new HTC Ice View is now here to replace the retro Dot View case, sporting a new look.

The new HTC Ice View case is similar to the HTC Dot View in construction, meaning that it still consists of a screen protector attached to the protective case by a flexible hinge on the left side. Similar to a book cover, the flap covers the front of the phone so it protects the display.

Unlike the HTC Dot View, however, the new HTC Ice View case doesn't have a slew of tiny holes to give that pixelated look. Instead, the new case is made of a translucent plastic that's more rigid and the display shines right through, rather than shining through those holes.

With this flip cover on, text and images might seem slightly blurry, so the effect is reminiscent of an icy glass pane - hence the name of the accessory.

The screen cover allows users to interact with the touch screen of their device and perform a number of tasks, such as reading messages, adjusting the volume, taking a photo, turning on the flashlight or other.

The HTC 10 also has a dedicated settings tab that allows users to turn certain Ice View capabilities on or off, or set what information gets displayed.

The new HTC Ice View case for the HTC 10 flagship smartphone is now available for purchase straight from HTC, carrying a price tag of $49.99. If you decide to try it out, drop by our comment section below and let us know how it fares.
