In an attempt to smash the language barriers in between users, Yahoo India announced a new update on April 12.
Yahoo Messenger for Android and iOS users will now include a keyboard the lets you chat in Hindi (only in Android) and other languages like Chinese, German, French, Indonesian, and Spanish.
Claiming that this is the first time it ever rolled out an update to support languages other than English, Yahoo also ensured that its chat app can easily and instantly sync mobile contacts. This feature works for both Android and iOS.
"On popular demand, we have added new features to Messenger which now syncs and matches users' mobile contacts instantly, and will enable the users to find and chat with their friends even more quickly. Users just need to enable access to contacts in the Messenger app for the best experience," said the California-based company.
Hindi is one of the most popular languages spoken widely across India, and the iOS users will definitely look forward to their update for this language.
For now, the company uses Yahoo Messenger v1.1.0 for iOS and v2.1.0 for Android. The iOS versions 8, 9.2 and so on get the advantage of third-party keyboard apps that Yahoo Messenger now supports.
On the other hand, the notable app update for Android users would be the ability to search for and send out GIF images. They simply need to type "/gif" accompanied by any keyword and the Tumblr-powered app makes the search easy for them.
The Messenger app last got an update back in December 2015, which allows the users to send multiple photos at a time. They could even like an image inside the app, but the highlight is the ability to "unsend" photos and messages.
Now powered by all these upgrades, Yahoo Messenger should definitely make life easy for users looking to converse in their own language. The updated app is available on Google Play and App Store.
