Regal Entertainment Partners With Atom Tickets To Push A New Consumer App

In an effort to drive attendance and engagement, Regal Entertainment Group announced on April 11 that it has teamed up with Atom Tickets, a mobile ticketing platform and app. The Tennessee-based company, which has theaters in 42 states, intends to utilize Atom's social invitation features and preordering feature for tickets and concessions.

"At Regal, we continue to look for innovative ways to make the overall movie-going experience enjoyable for our guests," said Amy Miles, CEO at Regal Entertainment Group. "In working with Atom Tickets, we've found a partner that enables our guests to experience an innovative way to order their concessions and tickets to the movies in advance. With the continued growth in mobile ticketing, we are thrilled to be Atom's first national exhibition partner and integrate Atom in all of our locations throughout the U.S. by the end of the year."

Atom Tickets' app launched in portions of the U.S. earlier this year. By the end of 2016, it's expected to be supported by 7,300 screens across the country.

Individuals who are a part of Regal's Crown Club membership will be able to integrate their rewards into the Atom app. All app users will be able to buy tickets and concessions directly on their mobile device, as long as the ticket-purchasing feature is supported in their specific town or city. It can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store for free.

"Atom Tickets is focused on connecting customers with the movies that they will love," said Ameesh Paleja, Atom Tickets co-founder and CEO. "Partnering with Regal enables us to reach an enormous audience of passionate moviegoers and we are excited to combine our best in class technology platform with their incredible theatrical experience to drive incremental audiences to the movies."

Other features found on the Atom app include the ability to change reserved seats and check local show times. Users can redeem their tickets by scanning a QR code at tablets located near the usher and concession stands at the theater.

Regal Entertainment Group's theater circuit consists of 7,361 screens in 572 theaters, as of Dec. 31, 2015.
