The impending summer release of WWE's new Attitude Era Vol. 3 – Unreleased DVD just got that much better.
The DVD and Blu-ray set, featuring seven hours worth of footage on DVD and eight hours of Blu-ray, will include a previously-unreleased match from the late, great Owen Hart.
Making it all the more better is the opponent you'll watch him face — none other than the late Ultimate Warrior. According to WrestlingDVDNetwork.com, the Owen Hart vs. Ultimate Warrior match dates back to May 19, 1996 and took place at New York City's Madison Square Garden.
At the time, Owen was in between WrestleMania XII, when he was a part of the Camp Cornette team (with Vader and the British Bulldog) that defeated the trio of Ahmed Johnson, Yokozuna and Jake "the Snake" Roberts, and King of the Ring, where he was pinned by Marc Mero in the quarterfinals.
So, we know he was in full-on heel mode, easily one of the best bad guys the then-World Wrestling Federation had. Meanwhile, the Ultimate Warrior was in the midst of his third return to the company, having just returned on March 31, 1996 at WrestleMania XII, where he defeated Triple H.
So, this impending DVD set including an unreleased Owen Hart vs. Ultimate Warrior match is pretty special, especially considering that both superstars left this world too soon. Hart, of course, died in a tragic fall due to an equipment malfunction during the company's Over the Edge pay-per-view event in May 1999. Meanwhile, Warrior died of a heart attack in April 2014, just days after being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, being honored at WrestleMania XXX and appearing on Monday Night Raw the following night.
That should only add to the feeling of getting to see this match. According to Wrestling DVD Network, the other four matches that will also be included in the DVD set are: Yokozuna vs. the Sultan (September 1996), Shawn Michaels vs. Bret "the Hitman" Hart vs. Sycho Sid in a triple threat match for the WWE championship (February 1997), Dude Love vs. the British Bulldog in a Long Island Street Fight (October 1997) and the Hardy Boyz vs. Lo Down (October 2000).
Nice slate of matches ... but none that we'll want to see more than Owen taking on Warrior.
