Some of the most beautiful photos of Earth have been taken not on Earth, but from space, particularly by astronauts from the International Space Station.
Astronauts on the ISS spend their free time snapping photos of the beauty of Earth, including city lights, sunrises, sunsets and even auroras over our pretty green and blue planet.
To date, astronauts on the ISS with Expedition 40/41 have taken over 700 photos, all of which can be viewed from an online interactive map created by Dave MacLean. The map not only plots out the location for each photo, but also shows where the ISS is currently located within Earth's orbit. You can also browse and view photos by the astronaut who took them.
There is also a crowdsourced project for identifying other photos taken by astronauts from the ISS.
American astronaut Reid Wiseman has posted some of the most gorgeous photos to his Twitter account, sharing that beauty with the world.
Wiseman became a member of the NASA Astronaut Group in 2009 and qualified as an astronaut in 2011. He was part of the crew of NASA's Expedition 40/41, which arrived at the ISS on May 28, 2014. He will return to Earth in November 2014.
