EVGA Launches SC17 Gaming Beast Built For Overclocking: 4K UHD Display, Full GUI Support And More

EVGA introduces its first in-house fully built laptop, and the SC17 Gaming Laptop shows remarkable gaming capabilities.

The company crafted the laptop with ultra-performance in mind, catering to the needs and requirements of hardcore gamers, overclockers and performance enthusiast alike.

EVGA developed a power supply that meets the demands of long gaming sessions and can output up to 240 watts of power when the need be.

Processing power comes out of the Intel Core i7 6,820HK CPU that is overclocking-friendly, meaning that it can reach a full speed of 3,800 MHz. Graphics will rely on an Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M which features overclocking capabilities, as well. The manufacturer packed 32 GB of DDR4 SO-DIMM RAM in the device, capable of running at 2,666 MHz.

The company invested efforts into making the 17.3-inch laptop as sleek as possible. The full unibody chassis showcases a slim design that puts the device under 1.05-inches at its thickest. The gaming laptop is relatively portable, as it has an 8.14-pound weight.

Via the integrated subwoofer, the EVGA SC17 gets sharp sound quality. USB 3.1 Type C delivers excellent transfer speeds when used with compatible storage devices.

A staggering 4K IPS 17-inch screen is capable of displaying resolutions of 3,840 x 2,160 at 60Hz, delivering eye-watering images during the engaging action scenes. The laptop comes with an embedded webcam that captures video at a resolution of 1920 x 1080p.

On the software side, EVGA's SC17 Gaming Laptop features a FULL GUI BIOS, providing the user with the capacity to reign supreme over aspects such as CPU Multipliers, Memory Timings, Voltage, and Frequency. An added bonus is that you can overclock the GPU from the BIOS itself. The EVGA PrecisionX mobile allows users to have total control over the advanced settings in Windows.

To further support overclockers in toying around with the machine, the manufacturer equipped the gaming notebook with a Clear CMOS button directly on the chassis.

Thanks to the EOC (EVGA Express OC), you can modify the performance using the up and down arrow keys. Downclocking the performance can come in handy when you are looking to pull more battery life. The laptop also features a number of present overclocks, which you can choose from according to your gaming scenario.

The first information about the SC17 Gaming Laptop crafted by EVGA arrived in January, and we are happy to see that the final product is exceeding expectations.
