Ex-Opera CEO Launches Feature-Packed Vivaldi Browser For Power Users

Vivaldi unveils its pioneering Vivaldi 1.0 browser that comes packed with features and customization options designed to meet the demands of power users.

The new Vivaldi browser is the brainchild of Jon von Tetzchner, Vivaldi co-founder and former CEO of Opera Software. Prior to the browser's anticipated release, Von Tetzchner said it took the team a while to get the new browser ready for a launch.

"We set out on a mission to make web browsers powerful again," says Jon von Tetzchner. "So Vivaldi 1.0 is both a throwback and a look ahead. It's a Modern Classic designed to help our users get the most out of all the time they spend with their browser."

One of the most prominent features found in the new Vivaldi browser is the modern tabs system, which allows the user to get more out of using tabs in their browsing. Users who have a big screen can take advantage of Tab Stack Tiling which allows them to see multiple pages in just a single glance. Vivaldi compares the experience with having multiple desktops.

Users can also save their favorite tabs as a session which they can easily retrieve at any time.

Open tabs, as well as history, settings, and bookmarks can also be easily accessed using the quick commands feature of the Vivaldi browser interface. Likewise, users can access any of their favorite bookmarks and sites through any blank tab with the browser's Speed Dial feature.

The team at Vivaldi also focused on the browser's sidebar, which it touts as the users' best way to achieve an impressive browsing experience. Using the sidebar, consumers can start viewing their favorite sites such as Twitter and Facebook. They can even chat while browsing which, according to Vivaldi, is "the next best thing to a Boss button for the web."

Users who have a knack for using the browser at lightning speed can use certain mouse gestures and keyboard shortcuts to do the trick. Gestures can be as simple as turning the wrist into any possible action, while keyboard shortcuts would make use of simple key combinations for it to work.

Vivaldi also claims to be the most customizable browser available in the market to date.

"We made Vivaldi the most customizable browser, all based on feedback from millions of users," says Vivaldi. "In fact, there are more than 1 million different ways to make Vivaldi your perfect browser."

Interested users can download Vivaldi for Windows, Mac and Linux.
