Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge+ Finally Bite Android Marshmallow Update In Canada

The new Android 6.0 Marshmallow update has come to all Bell and Telus subscribers, while Rogers' devices will be receiving the update on April 27th.

As the new update for Android smartphone users was released, we have seen a steady progression of the Marshmallow operating system (OS) finding its way to people's phones. Of course, telecommunication companies had to test the OS out if it were fit for their phones before they adapted the new technology. Recent releases in the past months saw Android Marshmallow flying through South Korea, India, and its latest releases in the U.S.

Canada is Marshmallow's next destination as Bell and Telus now offer the update for their subscribers via over-the-air (OTA) release. Carriers of either company can wait for the update to pop up on their Samsung smartphone screens in the coming hours or days. For the more impatient users who can't wait to get their hands on the new features this OS holds, they can do it manually by: going to their "Settings" app, tapping "About Device" near the bottom of the list, tapping "Software Update," and then finally, "Update."

Android Marshmallow is 1 GB or 1,000 MB heavy and users are advised to make sure that their phones have sufficient memory, a stable internet connection and a fully-charged battery just for safety. An updated phone is what we're after and not a bricked one.

The Marshmallow update includes features such as: "Now on Tap," which allows users to access a help screen by holding the home button even if they are inside an app or surfing the web; "Doze Battery," a smart energy saver that automatically puts the phone in sleep mode when not in use; and "Advance App Permission Controls," which has altered the previous process it would take to manage app permissions into an easier and more logical task.
