Xiaomi is kicking off its legendary Mi Fan Festival in India on Wednesday, when it will offer prizes and attractive deals for a number of its products.
Fans can expect to see the high-end Xiaomi Mi 5, the Redmi Note 3 and various accessories on sale, but the company also has some other special treats in tow.
Starting 8 am IST on Wednesday, April 6, Xiaomi India will officially start selling the Mi 5, offering the device at Rs. 24,999 (roughly $378) through flash sales.
It's worth pointing out though that only the version with 32 GB of internal storage and 3 GB of RAM will hit sales in India on Wednesday. It remains unclear when the 64 GB variant or the Mi Note Pro with 128 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM will become available.
Meanwhile, accessories on offer will include the 20,000 mAh Mi Power Bank, the LED Light Enhanced Blue and the Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro. The hefty power bank will cost Rs. 1,699 (about $25.68), the Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro will be available for Rs. 1,399 (roughly $21) and the LED Light Enhanced Blue will cost Rs. 249 (nearly $2.80).
The Mi Fan Festival aims to celebrate Xiaomi's sixth year of existence, as the company started out on April 6, 2010. Considering that it's only been six years on the market, the company's success is definitely impressive to say the least. Xiaomi managed to climb to the top of China's smartphone market in less than five years, becoming the top smartphone maker in the country, and it's gaining ground in other markets as well.
Xiaomi traditionally offered discounts on its anniversary in China, but it now looks like the Mi Fan Festival is throwing its next party in India. Xiaomi India has been teasing a number of offers, celebratory bundles and freebies for Wednesday, so you might want to keep an eye on its website and Twitter account for the latest details.
The company previously had a Holi sale in India back in March, and it proved to be quite a hit. The Mi Fan Festival is expected to be even more successful, so watch out for those offers. Some prizes are also in store for those who change their Twitter cover picture with a promo image for the festival, but the company has yet to reveal what those prizes are.
