LG G5 vs. Apple iPhone 6s: Which Smartphone Is More Powerful?

LG's newest flagship smartphone, the LG G5, is now available through AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon and U.S. Cellular.

The device, which is shipping this month, is being primed as a challenger to the current flagship smartphones of rival manufacturers in the market today such as Samsung's Galaxy S7 edge and Apple's iPhone 6s.

Tech Times has previously reported on a speed test between the LG G5 with the Galaxy S7 edge. Setting aside aesthetics and making a comparison in terms of power, how will LG's new offering stack up against the iPhone 6s?

Processor And RAM

The first aspect that would be compared to gauge the power of the two devices would be their processor and RAM.

The iPhone 6s packs Apple's A9 processor with an embedded M9 motion coprocessor, with 2 GB of RAM. In comparison, the LG G5 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processor with 4 GB of RAM.

Judging by these specifications alone, it would seem that the LG G5 has an edge over the iPhone 6s. However, these are not the only things that consumers will be taking a look at to judge which smartphone is the more powerful one.

Battery And Storage

With a larger battery and bigger storage space, users will be able to utilize their smartphones more.

The iPhone 6s has a 1,715 mAh battery capable of over 10 hours of talk time and over 12 hours of Internet usage. In comparison, the LG G5 has a larger 2,800 mAh removable battery.

As for storage, the iPhone 6s has storage capacities limited to 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB, while the LG G5 has an internal storage capacity of 32 GB that is expandable through its SD card slot up to 2 TB.

Features And Accessories

The iPhone 6s features Apple's 3D Touch technology, which allows for a wider range of input commands through the touchscreen. Users are able to launch a new set of commands when they press harder on the touchscreen that they normally do.

The LG G5, on the other hand, is announced as the first truly modular smartphone with its accessories simply named as Friends. These modular accessories include the LG Cam Plus, a camera module that transforms the smartphone into a device resembling a digital camera; the LG Hi-Fi Plus with B&O Play, which changes the device into an audio player; and the LG 360 Cam, which can create virtual reality content.

Verdict

On paper, it seems that the LG G5 is certainly much more powerful compared to Apple's iPhone 6s. The smartphone packs more impressive specifications while introducing the innovative Friends accessories.

Of course, the final decision on which smartphone to choose still depends on the customer, as there are some would still choose the iPhone 6s due to the iOS and being much more invested in Apple's infrastructure.
