'Dead or Alive 5' coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One

Dead or Alive 5 is the latest fighting video game that will be producing multiple re-releases as it will be coming soon to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Yosuke Hayashi, a producer for Koei Tecmo, made the announcement last weekend during an event by Japan Gamer's Live.

Hayashi's announcement, which was a surprise, revealed a trailer for the new Dead or Alive 5 at the conclusion of a tournament for the latest version of the game, Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate, which was just released last year for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The title of the game will be Dead or Alive 5 Last Round.

Apart from the title, not much else about the new Dead or Alive was revealed. The trailer that Hayashi played showed several characters including Ryu Hayabusa, one of the video game franchise's most popular characters since it was first released in the arcades and Sega Saturn in 1996 and for the PlayStation in 1998.

The developers for Dead or Alive 5 Last Round will be Team Ninja, which Hayashi currently leads after the departure of Tomonobu Itagaki in 2008.

Koei Tecmo is planning to release Dead or Alive 5 Last Round in Japan in the spring of next year, with no details yet on when the game will be released to other regions.

The original version of the game, Dead or Alive 5, was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012. With the pending release of the Dead or Alive 5 Last Round, there would be three versions of the game released within a span of four years.

Dead or Alive 5 Last Round will receive much attention as the latest iteration of one of the most popular fighting franchises in video game history. However, another upcoming project from Koei Tecmo will also surely be popular in the industry.

Hyrule Warriors is a game that combines the worlds created by popular video game franchises Dynasty Warriors by Koei Tecmo and the Legend of Zelda by Nintendo.

Unlike the usual Legend of Zelda games wherein Link takes on battles all by himself Hyrule Warriors will feature characters from the Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword games of the franchise that will be helping out Link in his battle against massive legions of enemies. Princess Zelda will be shooting arrows of light to defeat opponents, while Impa, the adviser of Zelda, will be using her giant sword.
