Glassdoor Outs List Of Top Oddball Interview Questions For 2016 In US And UK

Job applicants will at some point come face-to-face with an interviewer with a peculiar question, and that's why Glassdoor compiled a list of the top 10 oddball interview questions in 2016 in the United States and the United Kingdom.

For the uninitiated, Glassdoor releases a list like this annually to help job candidates be prepared for the unexpected. At first glance, they might come across as pointless or just plain wacky, but according to Glassdoor Chief of Global Recruiting and Talent Acquisition Susan Underwood, that's not the case at all.

"Employers are asking tough interview questions to test a job candidate's critical thinking skills, see how they problem solve on the spot, and gauge how they approach difficult situations. Employers want to determine how different candidates respond to challenges, and those who respond well may have the edge when it comes to receiving a job offer," Underwood says.

Without further ado, here are the 10 weirdest questions ever uttered during a job interview:

1. "When a hot dog expands, in which direction does it split and why?" –Space Exploration Technologies

2. "Would you rather fight 1 horse-sized duck, or 100 duck-sized horses?" –Whole Foods Market

3. "If you're the CEO, what are the first three things you check about the business when you wake up?" –Dropbox

4. "What would the name of your debut album be?" –Urban Outfitters

5. "How would you sell hot coco in Florida?" –J.W. Business Acquisitions

6. "If I gave you $40,000 to start a business, what would you start?" –HubSpot

7. "What would you do if you found a penguin in the freezer?" –Trader Joe's

8. "If you were a brand, what would be your motto?" –Boston Consulting Group

9. "How many basketballs would fit in this room?" –Delta Air Lines

10. "If you had $2,000, how would you double it in 24 hours?" –Uniqlo

There isn't exactly any right or wrong answer to these questions, and they're sort of in a gray area. With that said, there's still the best response for each one of these, so it's still a great idea to prepare to hear one of these at a job interview.

It should also be noted that Glassdoor published the highest-paying jobs in the United States as well, which could come in handy to figure out the perfect career.
