People are still unsure if they love or hate "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," with poor reviews yet high numbers at the box office, but one thing is clear, the timing of the first teaser for the "LEGO Batman Movie" could not have been better.
He may not be the Batman we wanted to see face off against the invincible Superman, but LEGO Batman is the Batman we most certainly will watch after seeing how he sets himself apart from all the Bat Men before him.
First, LEGO Batman introduces the teaser by explaining that this new movie is a little bit like the original "LEGO Movie," only better! Because this one is all about him: Batman.
It then shows a touching private moment with his parents. As Bruce Wayne, still wearing his Batman cowl, returns to his manor, he looks at his parents' portrait and tells them of his vigilante deeds and hopes he made them proud.
The heartfelt moment is disrupted, however, when Alfred comes in and surprises Bruce into hurling him across the room.
"I should have known better than to sneak up on you," says Alfred as he picks himself out of the grand piano and brushes himself off.
Alfred then tries to speak to Bruce about the moment he just had with his parents, telling him he doesn't need to hide it since he saw the exact thing happen in 2016, 2012, 2008, 2005, 1997, 1995, 1992, 1989, and in 1966, referring to all the previous movie and TV incarnations of the Caped Crusader.
While Bruce rolls around on the floor adamantly saying "No!" he does not want to open up about his feelings, he suddenly breaks into a familiar "na na, na na, na na" tune from the television series starring Adam West, and then into a short and sweet beat box. Unfortunately, Alfred wasn't able to record it, to which he reminds him that he must always remember his ABR: Always Be Recording.
The "LEGO Batman Movie" looks like it's going to be one heck of a superhero movie that might be better received than "Dawn of Justice."
The teaser also shows quick cuts of some of the villains LEGO Batman will face off against, and even has his LEGO Justice League friends running alongside him to help save the day.
LEGO Batman will rise in theaters in 2017.
