Leaked photos of the replacement shell for HTC's new flagship phone show features to expect from the upcoming HTC 10.
Leaked photos of the replacement shell show a design similar to the HTC M9. The back cover is a sleek airbrushed metal chassis with the HTC logo and a blue band near the top and bottom. The replacement shell has room for the rear camera as well as dual LED flash with what looks like an autofocus mechanism.
The photos also show just enough room for a 3.5-millimeter earphone jack on top of the replacement shell, while at the bottom are slots for a single speaker and USB Type-C. At an estimated price of just $30, you can get your hands on an HTC shell.
The new HTC flagship phone is expected to come with a Snapdragon 820 processor, up to 64 GB of storage and at least 4 GB of RAM. With the new processor, the HTC 10 should be able to match top contenders such as the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. Other features expected from the phone include a fingerprint scanner, the latest Android Marshmallow OS with Sense 8.0 as the user interface, and a sizeable 3,000 mAh battery.
According to Chialin Chang, HTC's Chief Financial Officer, the new phone packs a "very, very compelling camera experience." While the exact details of the camera remain a mystery and will likely be unveiled only during the April 12 event, HTC's previous flagship phones have already shown significant developments, beginning with an UltraPixel camera in the One M8, which was followed by a 20-megapixel camera in the One M9. The HTC 10 is rumored to come with a 12-megapixel UltraPixel.
The HTC 10 has already made a stir because of exceptional test scores from metrics such as the AnTuTu 6, where the leaked version of the phone fared better than even Galaxy S7 edge and the previous HTC One M9. The HTC 10 will formally be announced via an online event on April 12. Exact dates for preordering and delivery are yet to be announced.
