The New York International Auto Show opens to the public today.
Having checked out all the rides over the course of the press preview days on Wednesday and Thursday, we wanted to make navigating around the Jacob Javits Center that much easier for people attending, while highlighting the most spectacular vehicles for all those who can't make the trip as well.
Below is our list of the five most thrilling rides at the New York International Auto Show. Time to mash the dash.
Nissan GT-R
Skyline models being strategically-placed around the all new GT-R supercar was a subtle but brilliant touch by Nissan at the Nyias, as auto enthusiasts were able to trace the lineage of vehicles leading up to this amazing specimen on wheels. Ten years in the making, the roaring GT-R was worth the wait, as it will tear up roads in the United States later this year to the tune of 565 horsepower. Oh, what a rush.
Acura NSX
Acura is playing dirty. Not only did the Japanese company unveil its new NSX supercar at Nyias, but it unleashed it in a special racing edition, as seen above. Pumping out 573 horses with a top speed of 191 miles per hour ... need we say more?
Jaguar F-Type SVR
Car and Driver took the all new Jaguar F-Type SVR on a heart-racing trip through New York's Park Avenue tunnel, allowing to mash the dash on its 575-horsepower output on a body, which was lightened up courtesy of a titanium twin dual-exhaust attached to a beautiful carbon frame. Beautiful.
Buick Avista
That's a Buick? It sure is. The automaker's Avista sports coupe was easily one of the most bold, edgy designs that we've seen at the Nyias. As sleek and dynamic as this ride looks, it has bite, too, with a V6 twin-turbo engine, pumping out about 400 horsepower. Buick says that the seats in the car were even produced via 3D printer. Will feedback from the concept be so strong that it forces the vehicle into production? Well, that remains to be seen.
Genesis New York
Absolutely gorgeous. After making a splash with its Ioniq model featuring three different electrified powertrains at the Nyias, Hyundai also scored big at the annual car show with the rollout of its Genesis luxury line. If you remember, Genesis was the name of Hyundai's luxury sedan before the company announced last fall that it was making it into its own luxury brand — one that could compete with BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
Well, part of Genesis' rollout was its G90 and G80 luxury sedans and this head-turning New York concept sports sedan, which was easily one of the most breathtaking vehicles at this year's event. Bold, dynamic and edgy.
