It is already the last month of waiting for season six of HBO's Game of Thrones and all the fans are feeling a mix of excitement and dread to know more about what will happen next, since it is the first season that will not be based off George R.R. Martin's books. It is a good thing that both the bosses at HBO revealed that the females in the series will be taking center stage in the new season and Entertainment Weekly is quick to back it up with an awesome exclusive feature.
Season five ended with the women of the powerful houses in sticky situations: Cersei (Lena Headey) has been forced to walk the streets of Kings Landing naked as people cried out "shame!" and threw stuff at her; Arya (Maisie Williams) was punished for using one of the faces in the House of Black and White for her own vengeance; Sansa (Sophie Turner) jumped off to freedom with Theon Greyjoy, also known as Reek; Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) is surrounded by Dothraki warriors who do not recognize her power; Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) finally gets to avenge Renly by killing Stannis; and Margaery (Natalie Dormer) is still in the High Sparrow's custody.
Things are about to change in season six, however, because the stage is now set for the females and they are not backing down from the fight.
"The women are rocking this season - and I'm not just saying that because they're on your cover... They power this season. It's organic to the storytelling, yet a radical shift. It's the women that are the hope that we're watching as the chess pieces move this season, and it's very exciting," Michael Lombardo, HBO's president for programming, revealed.
To celebrate that and the return of Game of Thrones, Entertainment Weekly featured the females exclusively in its magazine. Take a look at the fantastic covers below.
We will all just wait to find out what happens next but there is one thing for sure: Jon Snow is dead and he still knows nothing even as he took his last breath.
Game of Thrones returns to HBO on April 26.
