Valve has pushed out a new beta update for its Steam Client which brings several improvements and enhancements.
On Tuesday, Valve rolled out the "Steam Client Beta Update" for all supported platforms, which include Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, SteamOS and GNU/Linux.
The update is now available in the Beta channel for those who wish to use it and it brings improvements to the SteamVR feature, as well as the Steam Controller device.
The changes the update brings to the SteamVR and the SteamController are as follows:
Owners of the Steam Controller will now be able to deploy A/B/X/Y and the Joystick Click as Mode Shift buttons. Moreover, the Mode Shift feature has now been fixed so that it gets cleared correctly when a user adds it to multiple action sets.
Thanks to the update fix, the action sets are now also able to display the native actions precisely instead of showing M/KB/Gamepad bindings in certain scenarios when one is deploying the legacy action set.
Additionally, the beta update to Steam Client also fixes a crash, which would happen when a user would try to enter or exit an overlay when using the Steam Controller.
SteamVR also benefits from the default Desktop Game Theater feature, which means that one no longer needs to run a special command to activate the same. That's not all, performance improvements pertaining to the rendering of the Desktop Game Theater into the Oculus DK2 headset have also been included in the beta update.
The Steam Community lists the details of the updates in its announcement.
