Warner Brothers and Fandango began the advanced ticket selling for the blockbuster superhero movie "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" on March 1. Just a few days before the film's theatrical release, Fandango reported that it has already beaten the record previously held by Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises."
Fandango did not reveal specifically by how much "Batman v Superman" exceeded advance ticket sales records but still the superhero flick holds the record as the site's top pre-selling movie until the next one comes along. (It actually won't be that long of a wait because DC and Marvel will have them coming until 2020.)
What Fandango did reveal is that more than 90 percent of its ticket sales were for the opening weekend of Zack Snyder's DC Superheroes movie, so Warner Brothers may just get the estimated $350 million opening weekend earnings it is hoping for.
Then again, the report is not that surprising because the film is not only focused on Batman and Superman's fight but is rather an opportunity that Snyder uses to introduce the revamped DC heroes who will show up in "Justice League," which is set for release in 2018, and in their own solo films.
Gal Gadot's portrayal of Wonder Woman is definitely something we are looking out for because her short appearance in the trailers alone already gives the audience an idea of how powerful she is. Just watch until the end of the trailer below.
Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck star as the titular characters and they are joined by Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jessie Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Jason Momoa as Aquaman.
"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" opens in cinemas March 25.
