Nintendo has a new gaming console called Nintendo NX on its way and an image of its controller has leaked online.
The leaked image comes courtesy of a Reddit user named Idriss2Dev, who claims that the photo is indeed the official controller of the upcoming Nintendo NX.
If the image is to be believed, then the Nintendo NX controller will arrive with an OLED, or LCD, display. The controller seems oval-shaped, which may not be comfortable to use for long period of time.
"It looks too ugly and uncomfortable even for the crazy Nintendo of recent years. If its real Nintendo has finally lost it," says a Redditor.
Many gamers also believe that the leaked image of the controller is fake.
"It looks like a desperate attempt to pander to the smart phone players and a big 'f*** you' to traditional console gamers," says another Redditor. "I think its fake though, the tablet WiiU controler was a failure and this looks like taking that idea one step further."
"It looks to be very fake, the lighting behind the screen is non-uniform indicating that it's basically just an LED box with an image glued to the front, this is supported by the fact that the screen appears to have no glass (which they wouldn't do and sharp's freeform display tech doesn't even allow for)" says a Reddit user.
Speculations are also rife that the Nintendo NX controller will be touchscreen oriented and will also have a front-facing camera, a connector on the top for charging purposes and a few speakers. These features of the controller make it far from conventional and traditional gaming console controllers.
"It look bizarre and I especially dislike it didn't have much buttons and seems to be touch screen oriented.. My other concern is how Nintendo is going to shove Xbox One hardware inside that tiny controller?" complained a gamer.
Nintendo faces stiff competition in the gaming industry from Sony PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Microsoft Xbox One, and combined together they hold about 80 percent of the overall video game market share.
Virtual reality (VR) is the next big thing in the gaming industry and Sony has confirmed the PlayStation VR (PS VR) headset. Sony has confirmed that about 50 game titles will be available at the official release of the PS VR.
The Japanese video game console maker will have to take out something special out of the bag for attracting customers and compete with existing competitors.
Nintendo has not confirmed anything about the upcoming Nintendo NX controller, which means all rumors about the controller should be taken with a pinch of salt.
