The next-gen iPhone 7 seems to be the favored child of leaks and rumors. Close on the heels of the leak reported a few days ago about the dual-camera module for the alleged iPhone 7 Plus, details on the battery of the impending iPhone 7 have surfaced online.
On Friday, Chinese website Digi.tech.qq.com shared images of what is supposedly the battery that will power the iPhone 7 when it is released this fall.
The images point to a 7.04 watt-hour battery for the iPhone 7, suggesting that the impending smartphone from Apple will improve on the capacity of its predecessor, the iPhone 6s. The iPhone 6s' battery capacity is 6.61 watt-hours; however, the iPhone 6 had a battery capacity of 7.01 watt-hours.
The leaked images shared by the publication do not reveal the voltage for the purported iPhone 7 and, therefore, the exact charge capabilities are not known at this juncture. However, it is expected to be similar to that of the iPhone 6's battery.
Rumors have been rife that both the iPhone 7 and bigger sibling iPhone 7 Plus will be sleeker than the current iPhones. The iPhone 7 is expected to be 1mm slimmer than the iPhone 6s. Experts are of the opinion that Apple could possibly be looking at eliminating the headphone jack, as well as reducing the extra space near the Lightning port to accommodate a robust battery that is similar in size to that touted by the iPhone 6.
Leaks have also pointed to the iPhone 7 sporting a Smart Connector, a feature that is already available in the iPad Pro. How this feature will be beneficial for the iPhone 7 is unclear.
As we recently reported, a leaked photo of the alleged iPhone 7 revealed that antenna bands on the handset seem to be repositioned and have been placed along the bottom and top edges of the smartphone.
The iPhone 7 will not be waterproof and will be the same size as the iPhone 6s, according to reports. The next-gen Apple smartphone is also anticipated to house a faster A10 chip and boast 256 GB of storage capacity. The smartphone will apparently have stereo speakers and a faster LTE modem.
