Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge Preorders Top 10 Million In World's Biggest Smartphone Market

A new report reveals that Samsung's latest flagships, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, already topped 10 million preordered units in China.

Samsung launched the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge in 60 markets around the globe in just a week. So far, it received preorders for the devices in numbers that are higher than it expected.

One of the markets where Samsung hopes the flagships would really create quite an impact is China, which is now considered as one of the largest markets for smartphones in the world.

Samsung tried to entice more consumers into preordering the devices by adding a free Gear VR headset bundled with every preorder that they make. While the offer comes for a limited time, it somehow serves the purpose of making consumers choose the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge over the competitors.

Another notable achievement found on the latest Galaxy flagships is the return of the microSD card expansion slots, after Samsung disappointed fans last year when it removed expandable storage from its Galaxy S6 line.

The Galaxy S7 has a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with a pixel resolution of 2,560 x 1,440. The handset's curved glass back allows it to fit better in anyone's hand. It also comes with a 3,000 mAh battery, which is quite an improvement compared to the Galaxy S6's 2,550 mAh battery and the Galaxy S6 Edge's 2,600 mAh battery.

The Galaxy S7 Edge has a slightly bigger display of 5.5 inches and features the same pixel resolution found in the Galaxy S7. One of its eye-catching features is the dual edge screen which creates a curve on the left and right sides of the handset. Moreover, the Galaxy S7 Edge boasts thin bezels which are perfect for those who find them a bit obstructive and not pretty.

As for the battery, Samsung equipped the Galaxy S7 Edge with a 3,600 mAh battery.

Both devices are powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 820 chipset by Qualcomm. Samsung is also offering variants powered by its own octa-core Exynos 8890, depending on market.

Other notable highlights of the latest Samsung flagships include a 12 MP rear camera, a 5 MP front camera, 32 GB of internal storage, fingerprint sensor, wireless fast-charging support and IP68 waterproof design.
