Apple Taps Cookie Monster For iPhone 6s Ad Highlighting 'Hey Siri' Hands-Free Control Feature

A previous advertisement by Apple in October 2015, showcasing the hands-free feature of the Siri virtual assistant, featured comedian Bill Hader. The funny ad shows Hader enjoying his sandwich while Siri reads out an email from Prince Oseph, in reference to the various iterations of the Nigerian Prince phishing scam.

In December 2015, the same feature was the focal point of an advertisement that starred Penelope Cruz, as she looked to solve a crossword puzzle with the help of Siri.

Apple has released another advertisement that focuses on Siri's hands-free feature, and this time, the company has tapped Sesame Street's Cookie Monster.

The one-minute advertisement entitled "Timer" shows Cookie Monster baking cookies while enlisting the aid of Siri. After loading a tray of cookies into an oven, Cookie Monster asks Siri to set a timer, presumably due to his hands being dirty.

While waiting for the cookies to become done, Cookie Monster also requested Siri to play his Waiting Playlist, which started with "Time in a Bottle" by Jim Croce. Cookie Monster then spends the rest of the commercial doing a variety of other things, including reading through a cookbook, playing with and devouring kitchen utensils and performing a puppet show using oven mitts. He does this all while always checking the timer on his iPhone, as Cookie Monster simply could not wait for the delicious cookies to come out from the oven.

Hands-free Siri is available in all iPhones, but the feature which allows users to simply say "Hey Siri" to activate the digital assistant without the need for the smartphone to be plugged into a power source is exclusively seen in the company's latest flagship smartphones, namely the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus.

How Siri is able to recognize the things that Cookie Monster is saying despite the blue character's accent is a big question though.
